As your trusted Morocco travel agency, we designed this itinerary to let you fully immerse yourself in the desert. With extra time spent in Merzouga, you’ll enjoy a deeper exploration of the Sahara, visiting nomads, traditional villages, and unique natural sites. This 5-day tour combines Morocco’s best highlights at a relaxed pace—making it one of the finest adventures you can take.
Your tour begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Marrakech. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the impressive Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) with stunning views of valleys and Berber villages. Next, explore the ancient fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for many movies. End the day in Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa, for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, visit the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate before heading to Skoura oasis, famous for its palm groves and kasbahs such as the well-preserved Amridil Kasbah. Continue through the scenic Rose Valley, known for its annual rose festival and fragrant products. Arrive at the Dades Valley, where red rock formations and winding landscapes make for a picturesque overnight stay.
Today, travel deeper into Morocco’s natural wonders. Explore the spectacular Todra Gorges, where cliffs rise dramatically on both sides. Continue to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. From here, ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. Enjoy a traditional dinner, Berber music, and stargazing at a luxury desert camp.
Spend the day discovering the Merzouga region by 4×4. Visit a nomadic family to learn about desert life, then explore the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnaoua music. Discover the seasonal Merzouga Lake, home to migratory birds like flamingos, and enjoy panoramic views of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Overnight stay in Merzouga.
Wake up early for a sunrise camel trek before heading back to Merzouga for breakfast. Travel north via Erfoud, known for its fossils, and continue through the lush Ziz Valley. Stop in Midelt for lunch before crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Visit the Cedar Forest to see wild Barbary Macaques, then pass through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon, where your tour ends.
